# AUS 40 Unloading, Pumping & Discharge: Port-Side Transfer Procedure

Getting certified AUS 40 from the quay into the SCR dosing tank is a short, routine operation, provided hose, coupling, pump and flow rate are right.

## Delivery modes

| Mode | Typical volume | Discharge method | Notice |
|---|---|---|---|
| Road tanker unloading (quayside delivery) | 10,000–24,000 L | Pumped discharge, hose to deck fill point | 48–72 hrs |
| ISO tank / flexitank | 20,000–24,000 L | Pumped discharge from container manifold | 3–5 days |
| Bunker barge supply (alongside supply) | 10,000 L and up | Barge transfer / ship-to-ship transfer | 5–7 days |
| IBC totes & drums | 200 L – 5,000 L | IBC handling: crane aboard, gravity or pump kit | 24–48 hrs |

## Pumping & flow rates

| Parameter | Bulk / ISO tank | IBC tote |
|---|---|---|
| Working flow rate | 100–400 L/min | 40–100 L/min (portable pump) |
| Typical hose bore | 50–75 mm (2–3") | 25–38 mm (1–1.5") |
| Coupling | Stainless camlock or DN flange | S60×6 / S75 adaptor to camlock |
| 10,000 L transfer time | ~30–90 minutes | n/a |

Wetted materials must be stainless 304/304L or 316/316L, HDPE, PP, PVDF, EPDM or fluoro-elastomer seals. Never copper, brass, bronze, unlined mild/carbon steel, aluminium or galvanised. Equipment must be dedicated to urea service and never shared with fuel, lube oil, hydraulic fluid or seawater.

## Discharge procedure

1. Confirm documents: match delivery note batch number to the Certificate of Analysis.
2. Inspect hose, couplings and seals; position a drip tray.
3. Connect the discharge hose to the vessel deck fill point / SCR dosing tank filling line.
4. Start pumping at reduced rate, prove the line, then move to working flow rate.
5. Monitor tank gauge and flow meter; stop before high-level alarm; drain back before disconnecting.
6. Flush with demineralised water if idling, cap couplings, log batch/volume/CoA reference.

Never dilute with water to make volume; never return drained fluid to the delivery container.

## Port call scheduling

Provide: vessel name & IMO, berth/anchorage, ETA–ETD window, volume, packaging format, deck fill point coupling type, agent contact.

- Gujarat ports (Mundra, Kandla/Deendayal, Pipavav, Dahej, Hazira): 48–72 hours
- South & East coast (Cochin, Tuticorin, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Haldia) and barge transfer: 5–7 days

Every consignment ships with an ISO 18611 & IS 17661 Certificate of Analysis and MSDS.
