AUS40 supply at Dhamra

Dhamra is a deep-draught port on the Odisha coast in the Bhadrak district, built for large bulk carriers and set some distance from the main road and rail corridors. Vessels come here for the depth, and the surrounding logistics are built around bulk cargo rather than around ships’ stores.

Send the call window with as much notice as possible, and name the berth. Getting a vehicle to Dhamra takes longer than the delivery itself.

What decides feasibility at Dhamra

Location is the constraint here. The port is remote from the main road network, so mobilisation time rather than product availability is what limits a delivery. A requirement confirmed well before arrival is straightforward; the same requirement raised at short notice may simply not be reachable in the window.

Confirm these before the enquiry:

  • The berth and the confirmed working period.
  • The earliest date the requirement can be confirmed, so mobilisation can start.
  • Operator access and escort requirements.
  • The receiving party and who signs for the delivery.
  • Whether anything is needed beyond the product itself, since a second trip is expensive here.

Berth-side or barge delivery

PROTICKS provides barge delivery where berth or jetty-side supply is not accessible, subject to a suitable craft, port and terminal permission, vessel acceptance and weather.

Name the Dhamra terminal and berth, including whether the call concerns the port’s cargo facilities or an LNG facility. The receiving permissions are not interchangeable. Ask for a barge option if the specific shore route is unavailable.

For this call: Facility operator; road access and stores-transfer window; barge acceptance and hazardous-area equipment requirements if applicable.

Neither an electric pump nor a fuel-engine pump is automatically permitted in a sensitive area. Confirm the terminal-approved equipment before dispatch. Barge delivery does not bypass cargo-operation or safety restrictions.

Planning the notice period

Confirm the requirement as soon as the call is fixed. Getting a vehicle here is the long part of the plan, not obtaining the product.

Send the vessel requirement

  • Vessel name and IMO number if available.
  • Port, terminal, berth or anchorage position.
  • ETA, ETB and ETD with date and time zone.
  • Quantity, preferred format and usable receiving capacity.
  • Local agent, company contact, documentation requirements, and whether you want PROTICKS to carry out the transfer.

Packaging & transfer

Choose 210 L drums, 1,000 L IBCs or an agreed bulk / ISO tank arrangement. Packaging does not determine the delivery route: road, barge or boat access must be assessed separately. Ask for pump kit, hoses, couplings, calibrated flow meter and personnel if needed, subject to terminal and vessel acceptance.

Review delivery and transfer planning.

Product & paperwork

PROTICKS AUS40 is ISO 18611 certified and meets the requirements of IS 17661 (Part 1):2022. Check whether the vessel is specified for AUS40 or AUS32, then check the batch Certificate of Analysis and current MSDS before approving supply. Product-document checklist.

Dhamra: common questions

Why does Dhamra need more notice than other ports?

Because the road movement is longer. The product is not the limiting factor; reaching the port inside the vessel’s window is. Confirm as early as the schedule allows.

Is Dhamra near Paradip?

Both are on the Odisha coast, but they are separate ports with separate access and separate mobilisation. Do not plan one against the other.

Can a short call be supplied?

It depends how much warning there is. Give the window as soon as it is known and the feasibility can be assessed honestly rather than optimistically.
