AUS40 supply at JNPT (Nhava Sheva)

JNPT, or Nhava Sheva, is India’s largest container port, worked through several independently operated container terminals. Deep-sea container tonnage on main-line services dominates the traffic.

Specify the container terminal and the confirmed berth window. Do not assume a Mumbai harbour or anchorage requirement is the same as a JNPT terminal call.

What decides feasibility at JNPT (Nhava Sheva)

Two things matter here. Each terminal sets its own gate and stores procedure, so the terminal must be named; and container turnarounds are short, so the delivery window is narrow and set by the cargo operation. A call planned only against the port name will not survive contact with the terminal.

Confirm these before the enquiry:

  • The container terminal by name and the confirmed berth window.
  • Gate pass and escort requirements for that terminal.
  • Whether stores may be received during container operations.
  • The agent handling the call and their operational contact.

Berth-side or barge delivery

PROTICKS provides barge delivery where berth or jetty-side supply is not accessible, subject to a suitable craft, port and terminal permission, vessel acceptance and weather.

At JNPT / Nhava Sheva, state the exact terminal, including whether this is a container or liquid-berth call. Check landside access and the receiving side first; a Mumbai harbour barge arrangement does not automatically apply at JNPT.

For this call: Terminal gate and berth access; lifting or hose route during cargo work; separate terminal acceptance of any proposed barge.

Neither an electric pump nor a fuel-engine pump is automatically permitted in a sensitive area. Confirm the terminal-approved equipment before dispatch. Barge delivery does not bypass cargo-operation or safety restrictions.

Planning the notice period

Raise the enquiry when the call is fixed rather than once the vessel is alongside. The turnaround, not the quantity, is what a plan has to fit inside.

See how an order runs from enquiry to delivery.

Send the vessel requirement

  • Vessel name and IMO number if available.
  • Port, terminal, berth or anchorage position.
  • ETA, ETB and ETD with date and time zone.
  • Quantity, preferred format and usable receiving capacity.
  • Local agent, company contact, documentation requirements, and whether you want PROTICKS to carry out the transfer.

Packaging & transfer

Choose 210 L drums, 1,000 L IBCs or an agreed bulk / ISO tank arrangement. Packaging does not determine the delivery route: road, barge or boat access must be assessed separately. Ask for pump kit, hoses, couplings, calibrated flow meter and personnel if needed, subject to terminal and vessel acceptance.

Review delivery and transfer planning.

Product & paperwork

PROTICKS AUS40 is ISO 18611 certified and meets the requirements of IS 17661 (Part 1):2022. Check whether the vessel is specified for AUS40 or AUS32, then check the batch Certificate of Analysis and current MSDS before approving supply. Product-document checklist.

JNPT (Nhava Sheva): common questions

Is a Mumbai anchorage call the same as a JNPT call?

No, and treating them as the same causes real problems. Mumbai harbour and the JNPT container terminals are different locations with different access arrangements. State which one the vessel is actually calling at.

Which JNPT terminal do I need to name?

The one on the call instructions. JNPT is worked through several independently operated container terminals and the stores procedure differs between them, so the terminal determines what the delivery looks like.

Container calls at JNPT are short. Can supply still be arranged?

It is assessed for the specific call. The short window is exactly why the enquiry should be raised when the call is fixed rather than once the vessel is alongside, so the terminal, the berth and the receiving arrangement can be settled in advance.
