AUS40 supply at Mumbai
Mumbai Port is a major port on the eastern waterfront of the city, on the western side of Mumbai harbour, with a dock system and harbour anchorages. It sits across the same harbour from JNPT at Nhava Sheva, and the two are separate ports under separate administrations.
Name the dock or the harbour anchorage. Mumbai Port and JNPT are different ports on the same harbour, and an arrangement confirmed for one does not carry to the other.
What decides feasibility at Mumbai
The most common problem in a Mumbai enquiry is that the port is not actually Mumbai. Vessels are frequently at JNPT, or at an anchorage in the harbour, and an access arrangement confirmed for one does not carry to the other. Beyond that, the docks sit inside the city, so road movement to the gate is a scheduling factor in its own right.
Confirm these before the enquiry:
- Mumbai Port, JNPT, or a harbour anchorage. Name it exactly.
- The dock and berth, or the anchorage position.
- Gate and pass requirements for a road vehicle entering the dock estate.
- The window in which the vessel can actually receive, allowing for city road movement.
Berth-side or barge delivery
PROTICKS provides barge delivery where berth or jetty-side supply is not accessible, subject to a suitable craft, port and terminal permission, vessel acceptance and weather.
Distinguish a Mumbai dock berth, oil-terminal call and harbour anchorage. If road access does not reach the receiving point, ask for barge delivery assessment at that location. Confirm the delivery window independently of the vessel’s cargo schedule.
For this call: Dock, terminal or anchorage identity; supply-craft and alongside permissions; oil-terminal pump and ignition-source controls where applicable.
Neither an electric pump nor a fuel-engine pump is automatically permitted in a sensitive area. Confirm the terminal-approved equipment before dispatch. Barge delivery does not bypass cargo-operation or safety restrictions.
Planning the notice period
Confirm the vessel is at Mumbai Port and not at JNPT or an anchorage before anything else. Notice given for the wrong location has to start again.

Send the vessel requirement
- Vessel name and IMO number if available.
- Port, terminal, berth or anchorage position.
- ETA, ETB and ETD with date and time zone.
- Quantity, preferred format and usable receiving capacity.
- Local agent, company contact, documentation requirements, and whether you want PROTICKS to carry out the transfer.
Packaging & transfer
Choose 210 L drums, 1,000 L IBCs or an agreed bulk / ISO tank arrangement. Packaging does not determine the delivery route: road, barge or boat access must be assessed separately. Ask for pump kit, hoses, couplings, calibrated flow meter and personnel if needed, subject to terminal and vessel acceptance.
Product & paperwork
PROTICKS AUS40 is ISO 18611 certified and meets the requirements of IS 17661 (Part 1):2022. Check whether the vessel is specified for AUS40 or AUS32, then check the batch Certificate of Analysis and current MSDS before approving supply. Product-document checklist.
Mumbai: common questions
Is a Mumbai call the same as a JNPT call?
No. They are different ports on the same harbour with different gates, different procedures and different agents. Confirm which one the vessel is at before the enquiry is worked, because the answer changes the whole arrangement.
The vessel is at anchorage in Mumbai harbour. Can it be supplied?
An anchorage call is assessed separately from an alongside call, because delivery has to be waterborne. Give the anchorage position and the expected stay so feasibility can be looked at properly.
Does city traffic affect the delivery window?
It affects the plan. The docks are inside the city and road access is subject to the same congestion and restrictions as the rest of it, so a wider receiving window is easier to meet than a narrow one.
