Use the batch instructions
Follow the current product data sheet, MSDS and OEM instructions for temperature limits, storage duration and handling. Shelf life depends on the product and its storage history; a single generic month range is not a guarantee for every batch.
Do not apply AUS32 freezing or storage data to AUS40. If crystallisation, overheating or contamination is suspected, isolate the material and obtain supplier advice before use. Do not add water to correct crystallisation.
Keep storage clean and traceable
- Keep containers closed, labelled and protected as specified in the product documentation.
- Record batch numbers, receipt dates and the supplier’s expiry or retest instructions.
- Rotate stock and check the condition of older material before planning a top-up.
- Use tanks, hoses, pumps and seals confirmed compatible with the supplied solution.
- Prevent contact with fuel, oils, seawater and other contaminants.
Before transfer or dosing
Match the delivery to its CoA, inspect seals and connections, and confirm the receiving tank has enough capacity. A density or refractive-index check alone does not prove that every impurity is within specification.
Use the vessel’s approved procedures and MSDS for protective equipment, spill response and first aid. Download the MSDS (PDF).
Plan the next supply
Use expected consumption and usable onboard stock to avoid unnecessary long-term storage. Calculate your planning requirement and review transfer arrangements.

Common questions
What is the shelf life of AUS40?
Shelf life is batch-specific and depends on storage conditions and history, so take it from the current product data sheet and the batch documentation instead of a general figure. Record receipt dates, rotate stock, and check older material before planning a top-up.
How should AUS40 be stored onboard?
In containers or tanks that are closed, labelled, batch-traceable and confirmed compatible with the solution, within the temperature range on the current product documentation, and protected from contamination by fuel, oils and seawater.
At what temperature does AUS40 crystallise?
Use the crystallisation figure stated on the current product documentation for the batch supplied. Do not apply AUS32 freezing data to AUS40. The concentrations differ and so do their properties.
What if AUS40 has crystallised or been contaminated?
Isolate the material and get supplier advice before using it. Do not add water to correct crystallisation and do not dose material of uncertain condition into the SCR system.
Is a density check enough to confirm quality?
No. A density or refractive-index check gives an indication of concentration but proves nothing about impurities. The batch Certificate of Analysis is what evidences that the full parameter set is within specification.
